Sentinels 2.0 Coming to Phones for Gen Con! (August 4th, 2016)
– Wed, Jul 27, 2016 at 07:57:50 PM
Two years ago at Gen Con, we showed off the digital version of Sentinels of the Multiverse to the public for the very first time. If you want a refresher, check out the very first Game Play Preview video here.
It was still very much a work in progress at that point, but it was less than 3 months later that we shipped version 1.0 for iPad and Android tablets. It was definitely Sentinels, but there was no Steam, no variants, no expansions and no phone support.
The time has flown by and we have accomplished so much:
Greenlit for Steam in just over 1 month
Launched for Windows and Mac in December 2014
First Variants shipped in December 2014
First expansion shipped in February 2015
Launched for Linux in February 2015
Cross platform multiplayer launched in October 2015
4 Expansions and 3 Mini-Packs (all of Season 1) shipped
26 Variants shipped
Sold over 120k copies of Sentinels across all platforms
Raised nearly $110k via this Kickstarter & BackerKit for Season 2
We couldn't have done it without all the great Sentinels of the Multiverse fans out there - Thank You!
You’ll probably notice that there’s only one thing left to add to that list, which brings us to today. It's taken 2 years, but we’re happy to announce that Sentinels of the Multiverse 2.0, with smartphone support, will launch the first day of Gen Con:
Thursday, August 4th 2016.
Free Update!
Version 2.0 will be a free update to Sentinels of the Multiverse to make it a Universal App. This means that if you already own Sentinels on your tablet, there is nothing new to buy - on August 4th, you will be able to install and play Sentinels on both your phone and your tablet (provided they are both in the same ecosystem and connected to your account). Likewise, all your DLC purchases transfer over within the same ecosystem.
Good things take time, and we’ve invested a lot of time and effort working on the phone interface for Sentinels. We knew that technically you could take the tablet UI and shrink it down to a tiny phone screen, and while it would be “playable” it wouldn’t be a great experience. Over the last 2 years we’ve put plenty of time into thinking about, designing, building, and iterating on what a great Sentinels phone interface should be. With the help of our team of dedicated beta testers, we arrived on an interface that we think is an awesome way to play Sentinels!
Sentinels on smartphone is the same faithful implementation of the card game that you’ve come to know and love over the last 2 years. It’s not watered down or simplified, just optimized for playing on a small screen that fits in your pocket. Every feature you are used to will be there, including full cross-platform multiplayer support. There are even a few things that are new, like swiping to navigate through full size cards.
Are you new to Sentinels, or have been waiting for phone support to finally jump into the Multiverse? Be sure to pay attention next Thursday, August 4th because we’ll be launching a week-long “Mobile Launch Sale” that day. There will be great discounts on both the game and expansions to not only bring new Sentinels into the fight, but also let existing Sentinels expand their collection.
Mark your calendars Sentinels, and get all your Pokémon hunting in this week, because starting on August 4th, Pikachu will be playing second fiddle to Legacy, Tachyon, Bunker and the rest of the Sentinels of the Multiverse!

Smartphone Update
As we promised during the campaign, Sentinels is coming to your phones very soon. How soon is soon? We’re not quite ready to reveal the release date yet, but it’s close enough that we can start showing it to you, which is exactly what we did on #SentinelsLive this past week. Take a look below:
.
Sentinels of the Multiverse for Mobile will be a “Universal” app which means:
Buying the game on the iTunes App Store will allow you to play it on any iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch linked to your Apple account.
Buying the game on Google Play will allow you to play it on any device (tablet or phone) linked to your Google Play account.
Buying the game on the Amazon Appstore will allow you to play it on any device (tablet or phone) linked to your Amazon account.
If you’ve been patiently waiting to play Sentinels on your smartphone, thanks for hanging in there with us! When we launch smartphone support, we promise to have a great launch promotion to get you in on ALL the Sentinels action. We’re not going to spill the beans on exactly when that will be just yet, but follow us on Facebook or Twitter or even better, join our mailing list to hear all the news first.
Onwards to Season 2
Stick a pin in Season 1, it’s done. To commemorate the occasion, we released a special Season 1 wallpaper that you can download here.
We are also working on the Season 2 Preview Pack to be released on all platforms after the smartphone version is complete. This special mini-pack will contain Setback (from Vengeance), Chokepoint (from Mini-Pack 4), and the Temple of Zhu Long (from Villains of the Multiverse). The preview pack will only be available as part of Season Pass 2, which will be available for sale on all platforms at the same time. If you missed out on the Kickstarter campaign, you can still pre-order Season Pass 2 on our BackerKit page.
After the Season 2 Preview Pack we’ll be getting right into developing Vengeance and the rest of Season 2. Stay tuned for news and previews!
Rooster Teeth Expo
Thank you to everyone who visited us at RTX this year! We loved the show, had a great time, and made some new fans that we’re excited to welcome to the community. It was great to be working with Rooster Teeth and to be back in Austin again after 4 years. Also, special thank you to volunteers Scott and Bryan who helped create many new Sentinels fans at our booth!
Gen Con
In just under a month, we’ll be on the road to Indianapolis to once again take part in the “Best 4 Days In Gaming.” As usual, we will be sharing space with the creators of the Multiverse, Greater Than Games. Stop by booth #2123 or room #145 to check out Sentinels on phones, find out the latest news, or just say hi! Jeremy, Jean-Marc, Jennifer and newly minted Handelabrat Crista will all be in attendance this year.
Super-Scientific Shipping in September
If you are still looking to get a copy of The Super-Scientific Tachyon variant card, you still have time! We will continue taking orders for all Kickstarter items, including the Super Scientific Tachyon card (and the limited edition signed collector’s card), through late August at least. You still have some time to get an order in before we lock those down and begin shipping, likely some time in September. As mentioned during the campaign, these are cards from the original print run, and this card will not be reprinted in this form. It’s your chance to own a piece of Sentinels history!
Stretch Goal & Mobile Backer Status
Over 97% of backers have completed their surveys on BackerKit, and we’re edging ever-closer to the $110k needed to achieve the New Challenges Await stretch goal! Mini-Pack 3, Avatars, Soundtrack Volume 5, and More!
– Wed, Jun 08, 2016 at 10:20:05 PM
Guise and Wager Master have finally stopped playing dice with the cosmos, and so Mini-Pack 3 is now available. In addition to the wise-cracking former paparazzi and diminutive blue alien, this Mini-Pack contains the fourth iteration of Omnitron, this time as an environment. There is a new Variant to unlock: the always festive Santa Guise! The first person to post a screenshot to our Facebook page or tweet a screenshot at @handelabra of their successful unlocking of Santa Guise will earn a place in the Sentinels Hall of Fame!
Mini-Pack 3 is available for $1.99 (USD) or as part of Season Pass 1 for $19.99 (USD). If you already own Season Pass 1, you will get access to the new decks automatically, but you may need to redownload the DLC first.
Steam - Your Steam client should automatically download and install the new content when you press Play. You may need to quit and restart your Steam client for it to see the update.
iOS & Android - When you launch Sentinels, you should be shown a screen prompting you to redownload the season pass. If you are not, just press “Get Expansion Packs” and tap “Restore Purchases.”
To play Mini-Pack 3 you’ll need to update to version 1.9 of the game, which was released today. This update also contains some feature updates:
You can now view your collection of Weekly One-Shots covers in grid format.
The New Game screen now also supports sorting decks by difficulty/complexity.
Multiplayer chat has an improved font (Comic Neue) that supports lower case, multiple languages, and special characters.
Various miscellaneous bug fixes.
Backer Avatars Available In-Game
Version 1.9 also includes the exclusive Kickstarter backer multiplayer avatars. If you backed the Kickstarter, chose a reward, and filled out your BackerKit survey correctly, when you launch multiplayer in version 1.9, you should now have access to your Season 2 Backer avatar! If you also backed at a mobile level, you will have access to the exclusive mobile avatar on iOS and Android. Show your flair out there in the multiplayer Multiverse.
Not seeing your avatar? Make sure to scroll through all of them to double check, The new avatars should be to the left of the default “?” avatar, right next to your OblivAeon avatar if you backed that Kickstarter back in February. If you’re still not seeing them, send us a message via Kickstarter and we’ll get you sorted out.
Musical Multiverse
For the first time ever, we’re releasing a soundtrack on the same day as a major content release for the game! Soundtrack Volume 5 is also available now and includes music from Wrath of the Cosmos and Mini-Pack 3. If you pre-ordered Soundtrack Volume 5, as either part of a reward level or as an add-on, head over to your BackerKit delivery page to get your soundtrack download now. For everyone else, you can buy Soundtrack Volume 5 from Handelabra.com and Steam today. If you prefer to buy from another store, it should be available from iTunes, Google, Amazon, Bandcamp, and others in the coming weeks.

Over 95% of backers have completed their surveys on BackerKit, and we’re almost reached $106k. There’s just over $4k to go to the New Challenges Await stretch goal! Between the mobile reward levels and Mobile Backer add-ons, we have 887 mobile backers so far! The 24 hour discount period is clearly unlocked, and we’re within range of the 48 hour discount at 1,000 backers.
